Question:  ID Commander reports calls as "unknown".

Answer:  To use ID Commander, you must have the Caller ID service from your phone company, a modem that supports Caller ID, and the proper driver installed for your modem.  This is especially critical when using XP.  I had to buy a new modem because my old one (that worked find under 98 and 2000) did not have a driver for XP.  I tried using the 2000 driver but it simply wouldn't work.

The Caller ID message comes right after the first ring.  ID Commander will display it immediately.  However, if ID Commander receives the 2nd ring without ever receiving the Caller ID message, it will log the call as "unknown".
